Math Practice at Home
1. Count to 100 every day. Start at different numbers once you get the hang of it.
2. Pick any number 1-100 and ask these questions:
> What number comes before __?
> What number comes after __?
> What number is 2 more?
> What number is 2 less?
> How do you write the number ___?
> Count out __ objects (cars, beans, cereal, Legos, etc).
> Count out __. Now how many do you have?
> Take away __. How many are left?
3. Count by 10s from your starting number.
4. Count by 5s from your starting number.
5. Write your number 5 times correctly.
6. Draw, find & name your 2-D shapes: triangle, square, circle, rectangle, rhombus, etc.
7. Draw, find & name your 3-D shapes: cylinder, cube, cone, sphere
8. Say your money poem.
9. Grab a handful of coins, sort them & name them.
10. Pick a number, 1-10. Roll a die. Write the number. Roll again. Add that many. Roll a third time & subtract from your original number. Make up a story about your math problem (Once there were 4 ducks on a pond. 3 more ducks flew onto the pond. Now there were 7 ducks on the pond).
